CLOSINGS LIST: Updates ahead of hurricane weather, Tropical Storm Isaias

Here is a list of closings and other events & updates impacted by what is currently Tropical Storm Isaias. The storm is expected to reach the north Gulf Coast around Friday night or Saturday morning as a Category 2 hurricane.

PLACES

The Gulf State Park pier will close at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, for storm-related preparations. Park staff will assess the pier Monday morning, Oct. 12.

Mary's Shelter Gulf Coast Thrift Store, located in Elberta, will be closed Friday, Oct. 9, and Saturday, Oct. 10.

Fairhope Public Library will be closed Friday, Oct. 9, and Saturday, Oct. 10.

City of Robertsdale will close at noon Friday, Oct. 9.

Non-emergency Foley city offices and facilities will be closed Friday, Oct. 9, and are scheduled to reopen Monday, Oct. 12.  Closures include the city museums, Foley Community Library and the Interpretive Center at Graham Creek Nature Preserve. City sanitation collection remains scheduled for Friday. Residents should have garbage placed curbside by 5 a.m. Friday. 

Elberta Farmers Co-Op will be closed Oct. 9-10.

The Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Contact Station and all public access areas, including beach access and trails, are closed effective Oct. 8 due to a declared state of emergency for the approaching storm. The refuge will reopen when conditions are deemed safe following the storm.

Baldwin County has issued a Local State of Emergency. All county facilities will be closed Friday, Oct. 9.

Topic Falls and Downtown OWA will be closed on Friday, Oct. 9, and Saturday, Oct. 10.

Urgent Care of Fairhope will be closed on Friday, Oct. 9 and Saturday, Oct. 10.

All Baldwin EMC Offices will be closing at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 8, ahead of Hurricane Isaias.

Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo will close Friday and Saturday, Oct. 8-9,   as staff secure habitats, protect infrastructure and care for animals. Reopening Sunday will depend on post-storm conditions, safety inspections, damage and hazard assessments and accessibility for guests and staff.

All Premier Medical locations will be closed Friday, Oct. 9.

EDUCATION

Baldwin County Public Schools will not have school on Friday, Oct. 9.

Gulf Shores City Schools will not have school on Thursday, Oct. 8.

Orange Beach City Schools will not have school or school-related activities on Thursday, Oct. 7.


LOCAL SPORTS

The Gulf Shores vs. Elberta Football game will now be played at Elberta High School on Oct. 8 at 4 p.m. The gates will not open until 3:15 p.m. Please do not arrive at Elberta prior to 3:15 to avoid school dismissal traffic.

EVENTS

The 53rd Annual National Shrimp Festival, scheduled for Oct. 7-10 in Gulf Shores, has been canceled.

Olde Time Days, scheduled for Oct. 10 in Stockton, has been canceled.

Bras Across the CAUSEway has been rescheduled for Nov. 1 at USS ALABAMA Battleship Memorial Park. Registration for the event has also been extended through Nov. 1.

Sea Glass Initiative's Community Resource Fair, scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 8, has been postponed. Date TBA.

Mobile Symphony Orchestra's "Spectacular," originally scheduled for Oct. 10-1, will be rescheduled at a later date.

The Coastal Alabama Farmers and Fishermen’s Market will be closed Saturday, Oct. 10.

Baldwin County Heritage Museum's Pirates of the Cursed Forest event for Oct. 9-10, has been canceled. Oct. 16-17 events are still planned to commence.

Elberta Farmers Co-Op's Chicken Swap scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 10, has been canceled.
