STAPLETON—A 14-year-old boy was injured Friday around noon when a homemade explosive device went off in his hand, according to Baldwin County Sheriff's Office spokesman Maj. Anthony Lowery.

The explosion occured on Charlie Head Road in Stapleton.

The injured boy and two others had been making small explosive launching devices out of TV antennas and reloading them with gunpowder, Lowery said. After setting off several of the devices on the ground, one boy picked one up and it detonated in his hand, injuring the side of his face.

The two other boys who were with him at the time, ages 14 and 11, were not injured in the explosion.
