The Baldwin County Youth Orchestra, under the direction of Leroy Hughes and Linda Abercrombie, will present a “Music through the Ages” concert, May 16 at 7 p.m. at the Baldwin County Coliseum in Robertsdale. The concert is free to the public. The BCYO, which is comprised of string, brass, woodwind and percussion students from Baldwin County, will also be joined by members of the Baldwin Pops as well as the Baldwin Strings Orchestra, an adult strings orchestra.

The concert will be an educational as well as an entertaining experience as the concert will include music from the classical and romantic periods to music heard today in movies and on T.V. The orchestra will perform Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture,” Mozart’s “Amadeus” from his Symphony No. 25, and Berlioz’s “March the Scaffold”, as well as a fun fiddler’s version of the “1812 Overture” performed by the string section of the orchestra.

The concert will also include a performance by the organization’s Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Marcus Alford, performing “Willy Wonka,” “Harry Potter,” “Raiders March” from Indiana Jones, as well as other movie music. The concert will also include performances by the Baldwin Strings Orchestra, as well as the organizations beginning band and strings ensembles.
