BAY MINETTE, Ala.— “Three of a Kind” is the theme of the third annual Bay Minette Mystic Revelers Mardi Gras parade, which will roll through the city on Saturday.

The 26-unit parade will include three Bay Minette police cars, ROTC color guard, Faulkner College cheerleaders, Baldwin County High School cheerleaders and marching band, Bay Minette Middle School King and Queen, Mystic Reveler Queen, Bay Minette City Council, WABB radio van, Bay Minette fire truck, and seven Mardi Gras floats.

Truck bands performing music throughout the parade are Assault and Battery, The Spotlite Band, Soupbone and Southern Current.

Beginning at noon, the parade will start at Bay Minette Middle School and continue south to Red Hill Road. The route will then turn east to West Seventh Street.

It will continue south to Alabama Highway 59 until it reaches D’Olive Street. After turning east onto D’Olive Street, the parade will go around Courthouse Square and turn to South Hoyle Avenue.

From there, the route will turn west to First Street and end at the Civic Center.

Area residents can celebrate Mardi Gras before and after the parade with the Family Fun Weekend, which begins Friday morning and continues through Saturday evening.

All events will be around the Courthouse Square and at the gazebo by the Courthouse.

Kids will enjoy riding the train, the gyroscope, bungee trampoline and climbing on the rock wall.

Contest enthusiasts with a heavy stomach may enter the Fear Factor contest for $5 a person and eat “something awful,” according to Mari Sellers, one of the event coordinators.

Or, men can dress up in high style, pay the entry fee of $10 and enter the Womanless Beauty Pageant, with the winner selected by the crowd.

Cash prizes will be awarded for both contests.

There will be plenty of food and arts and crafts from Friday through Saturday, as 20 vendors set-up on the courthouse square.

Chuck Stevens will provide music throughout the event from the gazebo area.

For vendor information, contact Mari Sellers at (251) 370-8496.
