FAIRHOPE, Ala. - Six Eastern Shore girls were chosen Saturday night to serve on the 2011 Dogwood Trail Court. The girls, all high school juniors or sophomores, were selected from a group of 31 contestants after receiving the highest pageant scores in categories including interviews, creative introduction, presence and composure and question and answer. The girls will serve a one-year term as "goodwill ambassadors" for the Eastern Shore.
Chosen were Fairhope High School sophomore Anna Wright, Fairhope High School junior Caroline Musall, UMS Wright sophomore Colleen Anusiewicz and a trio of Spanish Fort High School juniors, Anna Atchison, Emily Harper and Caroline Roberts.
Hosted for the 51st year by the Eastern Shore Optimist Club, the pageant awarded more than $7,000 in cash scholarships to the participants. Members of the court also receive an antebellum gown for public appearances. The 2011 court will make their debut at the Fairhope Arts and Crafts festival March 18-20.
