GULF SHORES, AL – Using four different sites offering medical assistance, Gulf Shores Fire and Rescue treated 775 visitors to the Hangout during the four-day event at the public beach.
“It was hot out there on Sunday,” photographer Michelle Stancil, who has attended the festival many years, said. “I’m grateful I did not land (for treatment) over the weekend.”
Sunday was the busiest day of the weekend with 301 people treated. Only three of those required transport by ambulance to an area hospital. During the weekend a total of 18 were transported from the festival site.
After seeing 210 people during the first two days of the Hangout Music Festival, on Saturday 279 people were treated by crews on site in the four medical tents.
On Saturday, according to Deputy Fire Chief Keith Martin, seven of those were transported by ambulance to a hospital. During the first two days of the festival eight people required transport to an area hospital.
Friday was the festival's first of daylong concerts at the site and 197 people received first aid and six were transported. On Thursday on, which was a kickoff party at the Boom Boom Tent, only 13 received treatment with two of those requiring transport.
