FAIRHOPE, Ala. - The federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency took custody this week of eight of the 18 suspects arrested Aug. 7 by Fairhope police on cockfighting, gambling and related charges.
“Of the 18 arrested, 10 individuals bonded out, awaiting trial,” Police spokesman Sgt. Craig Sawyer stated Thursday. “Six were picked up by ICE this morning. The last two are going to be picked up by ICE tomorrow.”
The eight suspects face deportation proceedings as alleged illegal immigrants, according to authorities.
