A 23-year-old spices up the Gulf music scene

As people, we all have different passions—unique pursuits that move us. Something drives us to get out of bed every morning, encourages us to get through the work day and keeps us looking forward to weekends and free time.

For Logan Spicer, 23, has one such pursuit that moves him—to country-music rhythms, that is.

Spicer said he’s never known a life without music.

“I've been into music ever since I can remember,” he began. “The reason I got into music is because I love the way it makes me feel, and inspires me.”

Randy Fraizer, a promoter who’s been helping the young musician, said that Spicer’s passion is coupled with real talent.

“He can sound like whoever he’s trying to, but when he does his own music, he’s just got a voice like no one else.

He enjoys singing classic country, plus a few songs of his own, he said.

“I have written my own lyrics, but the reason I choose the songs that I do play, is because I feel that I can relate to the songs,” he divulged. “I love to perform anything by George Jones, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, John Conlee, and of course George Strait—those are my main inspirations.”

He has two main interests in music, he explained.

“The guitar is just fun to play,” he said. “But the singing is where I really get my enjoyment—you could say I have a country style…an old country style.”

Fraizer was quick to mention that Spicer’s personality sets him apart from other musicians.

“He’s very humble and very nice and just glad that someone’s listening to him,” he said.

Spicer expounded on his life priorities that further explain his attitude.

He said that he puts, “God first, family, then music. Other than God and family, it means everything.”

And he’s not going anywhere but up.

“I recently signed with BSW Records in Nashville, and have plans to begin recording within the year,” he beamed. “I would love to achieve country music stardom, but I will also be happy, knowing that I'm doing what I love.”

“I feel lucky to be able to do what I love as my career.”
