A patriotic air at the Senior Center

Posted

BAY MINETTE, Ala. — The week of June 17 was a week of talking about last week and planning for next month.

We are beginning to look patriotic at the Senior Center! Check out the bulletin board full of pictures of things that have been enjoyed at the center. You might see yourself in one of the snapshots!

Monday, June 23, was the monthly planning (officers and committees.) More about that next week.

This week full of exercise and line dancing steps? Each Monday and Wednesday at 3 p.m. Today is game day and the fun begins at 2 p.m. Come and join in on the fun and games and see for yourself what is happening at the Senior Center.

Better still, if you have a game you enjoy, come and challenge the seniors to join in with you as you share your game with us.

We will wind up the week and month with Movie Nite on June 27. Begins at 5 p.m. with finger foods and social hour. The movie is “Yours, Mine and Ours,” with Henry Fonda and begins at 6 p.m. With the change in daylight, you can still make it home before dark, I think.

We will be celebrating birthdays, as well.

And from the seniors at the Senior Center, we wish all June birthdays a happy birthday and to those we know. Happy birthday to jean Frazier (1), Marjorie Cook (6), Cindy Freeman (7), Jake Herville, 8, Jacob Porter (8) and Dee Odom (28.) We are remembering Mom (Elmira) with love (13.)

So, as we wind up the month remember all the special days of June past and present. Hope all fathers had a special day and those that are no longer with us were remembered in a special way!

June 22 was special for our family, as my granddaughter, Anna, let all the family know of her engagement. We seem to manage a wedding a year, which keeps our family ever extending with love!

So remember the special moments of June, but get ready for the fireworks display in Bay Minette and surrounding areas! Stockton also has quite a display, and you can catch both. I think I will! Will let you know.

More about what is happening in July at the Senior Center next week. The center will certainly be a part of the excitement of the Fourth of July.

Thought for the week:

Each day comes bearing its own gifts; untie the ribbons.

— Ruth Ann Schabacker.

May God bless you until we meet again.
