DAPHNE, Ala.—The United States Sports Academy will participate in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program, a provision of the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008.
The program allows degree-granting institutions of higher learning in the U.S., to voluntarily enter into an agreement with the Department of Veterans Affairs to fund tuition expenses that exceed the highest public in-state undergraduate tuition rate. Entering into a Yellow Ribbon Agreement allows the academy to choose the amount of tuition and fees it can contribute and the VA will match the amount.
Students eligible for the program must: have served a collective total of active duty for at least 36 months after Sept. 10, 2001; have been honorably discharged from active duty for a service connected disability; and served 30 continuous days after Sept. 10, 2001 or are a dependent eligible for transfer of entitlement under the Post-9/11 GI Bill based on a veteran’s service.
