Lady Moon Achee, 76, died Sunday, May 11, 2008 at her home in Fairhope.

She was born on Nov. 14, 1931, to Cornelius Lee Moon and Lucille Singletary Moon in Opelousas. While attending LSU, she met her future husband, Carl Edward Achee. They married in 1951.

After serving in the Air Force, they returned to Louisiana where her husband opened his law practice. After his death in 1962 she returned to McNeese and received her degree in education, followed by a Masters Degree and Masters plus 30 hours. She taught in elementary and special education departments and later worked as an assessment teacher in Calcasieu Parish Schools until her retirement. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Edward Achee and parents, Cornelius Lee Moon and Lucille Singletary Moon.

Survivors include three children, Cherie Achee (William) Forsythe of Lake Charles, La., Denise Achee (Roy) Breakfield of Fairhope, and Michele Achee (Mark) Stanfield of Baton Rouge, La.; two brothers Sidney Singletary (Judy) Moon of Lafayette, La., and Cornelius Lee (Bobbie) Moon Jr. of Lake Charles. La.; four grandchildren, Jennifer Forsythe, Sarah Stanfield, Bryan Breakfield and Jason Breakfield.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 14 at the Wolfe-Bayview funeral home in Fairhope with the Rev. David A. Powers, Trinity Episcopal Church, Mobile, officiating.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the Calcasieu-Cameron Retired Teachers Association scholarship fund, 4101 Mary Ann Lane, Lake Charles, LA 70605.
