SPANISH FORT, Ala.—Forrest Daniell and Associates unveiled site, floor and elevation plans earlier this week for a proposed City Complex.

“Everything looks very good, and I was especially impressed with the elevation plan,” said Mayor Pro Tem Mike McMillan, one of about one dozen people who serve on the advisory board charged with studying the project’s feasibility and moving it forward.

McMillan said it appears the Daphne-based architectural firm, after talking with each department and agency expected to be affected by the proposed complex, has increased the size of the library, lowered the foyer, included a safe room and added more space for administration services.

“I really like what they showed us,” McMillan said.

The tentative project design includes the eventual construction of a multipurpose building; administrative building; public works building; Baldwin Rural Area System terminal; senior center; library; post office; two additional buildings to accommodate future growth; and a recreational area.

The complex would be constructed on an 18-acre site at the intersection of highways 72 and 31.

McMillan said the advisory board will review the plans provided by Forrest Daniell and meet again to discuss critiques. There are no plans at the moment for any immediate action to be taken or suggested, he sid.
