Inez Coleman Akers, 95 of Georgia, formerly of Bay Minette, died Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan.
She was born March 18, 1915 in Ashland, to Charlie Columbus Coleman and Charlsie Carpenter Coleman. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bay Minette.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Redus M. Akers Sr.; sister, Nettie Sentell; and two brothers, Bill Coleman and James David Coleman.
Survivors include a daughter, Ann Akers (Rudy) Jarrett of Blakely, Ga.; son, R. Merideth (Becky) Akers Jr. of Birmingham; four grandchildren, Julie Jarrett of Blakely, Ga., Amy (Jeff) Corbitt and Meg (Kurt) Branch of Birmingham and Jim (Deena) Parrish of Auburn; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 30 at the First Baptist Church in Bay Minette with Dr. Henry Cox and Merideth Akers officiating. Burial will follow at Bay Minette Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Kurt Branch, Jeff Corbitt, Walt Lindsey, Tom Mitchell, Dick Owen, Jim Parrish, Jim Stewart and Robert Wilters.
The family requests memorial donations be made to Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes, P.O. Box 361767, Birmingham, AL 35236.
