ORANGE BEACH, Ala., — Chris Litton of the Orange Beach Recreation Center is the August recipient of the Alabama Gulf CoastArea Chamber of Commerce’s “Island Spirit award.”
The nomination for Chris stated, “Chris Litton is an excellent nomination for the Island Spirit Award. He does a wonderful job at the Orange Beach Recreation Center with the youth and snowbirds.
“He volunteers his time to help the community. Chris has traveled many miles to show his civil war memorabilia to clubs and youth groups. Chris is always friendly and goes above and beyond to help anyone.
“His upbeat personality will make you happy even if you weren’t before you meet him. He shows his Island Spirit everyday!”
In addition to a plaque, Chris received an ‘Island Spirit’ lapel pin, a cash award, flowers from Flowers by the Shore and a Gift Certificate from L.A. Maids Services. The Catch the Island Spirit Award is presented each month to an individual who works on our island and offers great customer service to our guests or residents.
The Alabama Gulf Coast Area Chamber of Commerce presents The Island Spirit Award monthly to an individual who works on the island and displays an attitude of concern, warmth and hospitality to those they serve.
The Island Spirit Committee is looking for nominees who most often have direct contact with customers and visitors to the island. They have been waiters, waitresses, service station attendants, bank tellers, receptionists, police officers, grocery clerks, etc.
Any individual working on Alabama’s Gulf Coast including Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Fort Morgan, and Ono Island qualify.
Recipients cannot benefit financially for their actions and are not usually owners or persons in high levels of management.
The Island Spirit Award includes the placement of the recipient’s name on a rotation plaque, a cash award, an article with picture in our local newspaper, a custom made “Island Spirit” pin, and of course the appreciation of all who love this Island paradise.
The Alabama Gulf Coast Area Chamber of Commerce is a member supported non-profit organization, founded in 1981 and serving Gulf Shores, Orange Beach and Fort Morgan areas.
