Alabama Highway 181 road-widening project produces traffic delays

DAPHNE, Ala. — Long lines of traffic were backed up today in all directions at the intersection of Alabama Highway 181 and County Road 64.

The continuing road-widening project on 181 is the cause for the backups, with repaving activity this afternoon directly at that intersection.

The longest backups — of nearly a half-mile — were on eastbound 64.

Alternative north-south routes include County Road 13, as well as U.S. 98 and Highway 59.

East-west alternatives to County Road 64 (Daphne Avenue) include Whispering Pines and State Road 104.
