MIAMI GARDENS, Florida - The second-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide rolled to a 42-14 win over No. 1 Notre Dame in the BCS National Championship game on Monday night.

The victory was the second straight BCS championship for Alabama (13-1), who has also won three of the last four national championships and 15 overall. Running back Eddie Lacy was named the game's Offensive MVP with 140 yards rushing, a rushing touchdown and a touchdown catch in the win. C.J. Mosley, a junior linebacker from Theodore, was named the game's Defensive MVP with eight total tackles and one tackle for a loss of six yards.

T.J. Yeldon, a freshman running back from Daphne, carried 21 times for 108 yards and a touchdown. Foley's Robert Lester, a senior safety, had six total tackles in his final game for Alabama. Lester has been a part of three national championship teams in four years at Alabama.

Another Foley High School graduate, offensive tackle DJ Fluker, started in the game for what many consider to be the best offensive line in the nation.

Alabama junior quarterback A.J. McCarron, a St. Paul's graduate, completed 20-of-28 passes for 264 yards and touchdown throws to Amari Cooper (2), Lacy and Michael Williams.

Alabama jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and a 28-0 lead at the half. Notre Dame (12-1) quarterback Everett Golson had a touchdown run and a touchdown pass in the second half.
