Howell Silsbee “Poochie” Alexander, 84, a resident of the Pine Grove community of Bay Minette, died Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009 at his residence.
He was a retired Senior Chief Petty Officer serving 26 years with the U.S. Navy; and was a member of Bay Minette Masonic Lodge No. 498.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hattie Goins Alexander and his son, Jerry Alexander Sr.
Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca “Becky” (Robert) Clemmons and Betty (David) Clemmons of Bay Minette; nine grandchildren, Terry Ray, Jerry Alexander Jr., Billy Alexander, Scotty Alexander, Christopher Alexander, Robert E. Clemmons II, Christina Hardman, Chelsea Clemmons and Dana Kirchharr; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Fulton of Birmingham.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5 at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Mike Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Bay Minette Cemetery. Military Honors will be rendered by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.
