William Allen, 83, a native of Louisville, Ky., and resident of Fairhope, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008 at a local health care facility.
He was a graduate of Centre College of Kentucky, the Union Theological Seminary, is a graduate of the University of Alabama School of Law. He was a professor of Business Law at Auburn University and the University of Alabama.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Martha M. Allen of Fairhope; two sons, William H. (Vinessa) Allen III of Martinsburg, W.Va., and Ellis S. (Katherine) Allen of Fairhope; daughter, Mary-Beth Allen Layfield of Fairhope; two sisters, Elisabeth Allen Young of Louisville, Ky., and Frances Allen Terry of Louisville; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16 at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Fairhope. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18 at Newbern Cemetery, in Newbern.
