John R. Allen Jr., a longtime resident of Bon Secour, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007.
In past years he was a local businessman, and retired from Civil Service after 30 years as an instrument technician. He was an avid fisherman and devoted family man.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, beloved father and a friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Lewis Allen.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanne Busby Allen; two sons, John R. “Sonny” Allen III and Richard J. (Sherri) Allen; daughter, Mary Allen (Doug) Phillips; sister, Juanita Anderson; brother, Thomas S. Allen; four grandchildren, Regie, Andrew, Morgan and Johnny; one great-granddaughter, Catie; one great-grandson, Jack; five step-children, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Foley.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Bon Secour.
Paulbearers will be Arvia Allen, Dewitt Anderson, Reggie Anderson, Andrew Allen, Regi Allen and Doug Phillips.
Arrangements are by Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., Foley.
