Alligator cruises attracting eco-tourists to 5 Rivers Delta Resource Center

SPANISH FORT, Ala.—Some of the Mobile-Tensaw Delta’s most reclusive residents have become so popular in recent months, 5 Rivers Delta Safaris is having a little trouble keeping pace with demand.

That’s why additional "Gators After Dark" classes and boat tours continue to fill out 5 Rivers Delta Resource Center’s events calendar.

"We still have lots of space on the July 29 trip and have added six more nights in August and September," said Christian Aboud, president of 5 Rivers Delta Safaris’ parent company Wild Native Inc.

Shonda Borden, 5 Rivers’ assistant manager, said informational courses and cruises are intended to help local eco-tourists explore the "toothier side of the delta."

Seating is limited on each excursion, so registration is required, but the cost is only $10 per person.

In addition to the July 29 departure, cruises are also slated for Aug. 5 and 27 at both 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. September dates will be announced in the coming weeks.
