Alton Ray Waldrep, age 73, a resident of Summerdale, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016.
He was reunited with his love and cherished wife of over 54 years, Grace Trussell Waldrep; his favorite "red-headed" daughter, Dana Waldrep Kreider; his parents; brother; and numerous loved ones.
Alton had a dry sense of humor, a love of God, family, sports, and a sacred trust that Coach Saban would lead the Crimson Tide to another championship (Roll Tide!).
Survivors include his son, Derek (Lisa) Waldrep of San Antonio, Texas; and daughter, Danielle (Allen) Rich of Hoover, Alabama; two granddaughters, Apryl (Jeff) DeCorte of Northport, Alabama and Kaithlyn Kreider of Auburn, Alabama; and a great-granddaughter who had her Papa wrapped tightly around both of her little hand, Brennan Rae DeCorte; as well as many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
The family will receive friends from Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Foley, Sunday, Dec. 11, 2016 from 4-6 p.m.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Foley, Monday, Dec. 12, 2016 at 11 a.m.
Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens, Tillmans Corner, 6100 Three Notch Road, Mobile, AL 36619 at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 13220 Main St., Elberta, AL 36530.
