Alton Thompson, 73, born in Grand Bay and a resident of Bay Minette, died Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at his residence.
He was a clerk at Bay Minette Building Supply for 33 years; and he was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Emilie Louise Chance Thompson of Bay Minette; son, Randy Allen (Rebecca) Thompson Sr., of Bay Minette; daughter, Charlotte Vaughn of Bay Minette; three brothers, Dewitt Thompson, Durwood “Buddy” Thompson and Gary Don Thompson, all of Bay Minette; two sisters, Irene Wiggins of Bay Minette and Earnestine Buxton of Crossroads; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 28 at the First Baptist Church, Bay Minette. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 29 at the church with Dr. Chip Starnes and Dr. Henry Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.
