DAPHNE, Ala. — A proposed amendment to the city’s land-use and development ordinance creating an outdoor amusement district dominated discussion during Thursday’s regular Planning Commission meeting.
Adrienne Jones, director of community development, delivered a presentation outlining a proposal for creation of a C-2 district that would include golf courses, skate and amusement parks, archery ranges, driving ranges and roller/ice skating rinks.
Jones said Commissioner Larry Chason spoke of ensuring the proposed district applies only to new developments, and Commission Chairman Ed Kirby concurred, saying the C-2 designation should not be imposed retroactively.
