Ana May Coleman Hodgin, 86, passed away peacefully in her sleep April 4, 2013 in Fairhope after a 15-year struggle with Parkinson’s disease.
She was born in Mercedes, Texas ON July 9, 1926, the daughter of Maud Sprague and William Coleman.
Ana was a graduate of Texas State College for Women in Denton, Texas with degrees in commercial art and photography. Ana married Stanley A. Hodgin in 1948.
She is survived by her husband, Stan; and her four children, Suzanne Fox of Mobile, Rosemary Popp of Atlanta, Daniel Hodgin of Fairhope and Stanley Hodgin Jr. of Carrolton, Ga.; plus nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
During their 65-year marriage, Ana and Stan made their home in Brownsville, Texas, Gonzales, La., Pensacola, Atlanta and Vidalia, Georgia before retiring to Fairhope in 1992.
Ana had many interests. She loved to prepare healthy gourmet meals for her family and friends. She was an experienced gardener, growing a variety of vegetables and flowers.
During her later years, she enjoyed painting with acrylics and entered paintings in art shows in the Fairhope area, occasionally receiving awards for her artwork.
While living in Atlanta, Ana was active in American Association of University Women.
Her memorial service will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Fairhope.
