ORANGE BEACH, AL – Assistance for flood victims in Louisiana continues to flow from Pleasure Island in both Gulf Shores and Orange Beach.
The City of Orange Beach collected a building full of items in the former Finance Department offices on the south side of city hall and is working in conjunction with Christian Life Church, Orange Beach United Methodist Church and others to get the items to Louisiana.
The Anchor Bar and Grill is getting in on the action as well.
“This Sunday from 2-6 p.m., we will be having a shrimp boil and silent auction with Eric Erdman providing live music on the deck to benefit the flood victims of Louisiana,” Chef Jonathan Kastner said. “All proceeds will go to FoodNet Food Bank and United Way of Acadiana. We'd like to thank everyone for the generous donations of food and items for the auction.”
Anchor bar co-owners Kastner and Sarah Acreneaux are from Lafayette, La.
Food has been donated by Steel City Seafood, the Meat Mart at Orange Beach and Gulf Coast Produce Distributors, Inc.
Silent auction items include gift certificates from: Cosmo's Restaurant & Bar, Luna's Eat & Drink, Cobalt the Restaurant, BuzzCatz Coffee & Sweets, The Gulf, Wildflowers Boutique, Big Fish Restaurant & Bar and Paisley Jane's.
Gift baskets have been donated from Brick & Spoon, The Orange Beach Store, Gulf Coast Paddle Co., Pour Baby, Sunset sailing cruise for two from SAILob.com, one month of CSA boxes from Forland Family Market, Pirate Cruise gift basket from Hudson Marina of Orange Beach, Clay mugs from Maya Earth, Art from The Art of Nick Cantrell, two-night stay in beach front condo w/food stocked fridge from Island Epicurean Food Co., Half hour massage from Kneading Relief, four mini golf and four Ferris wheel passes two tickets to the Miranda Lambert concert at The Wharf Amphitheater from The Wharf and golf ball drop tickets from Knights of Columbus.

At Orange Beach City Hall, staffers are collecting cleaning supplies, bottled water, nonperishable food items, dog food and linens, among other things.
Chris Litton with the city said on Aug. 17 that four trucks had already been sent to Louisiana and other trucks and trailers are being loaded for the trip.
