Maryan J. Root Anderson, born March 15, 1917, died Friday, March 7, 2008.
She was the daughter of Lydia and Orin Root and was raised in St. Paul, Minn. She married her high school sweetheart, Herbert Anderson, on Nov. 28, 1936. After his retirement, they moved to Lillian in 1972. She became an active member of Shepherd of the Bay in 1986.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters and one brother.
Survivors include a son, Herbert (Marie) Anderson Jr. of Lillian; three daughters, Mary Lynn (Dick) Kennedy of Vining, Minn., Claudette (Gary) Bobleter of Lillian and Denise (Rick) Simms of Walker, La.; two brothers, Jim (Shirley) Root and S. Irvin “Bud” Root, both of St. Paul, Minn.; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, many nieces and nephews, including Paulette (Bruce) Shackleton of Lillian, and her good friend and companion, Otto Schlauch.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, March 11 at Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church.
The family requests memorial donations be made to Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church or Odyssey Health Care hospice.
Cremation arrangements were made by Cason Funeral Service, Foley.
