GULF SHORES, Ala. — In the 1970s, much of the learning came from the Saturday cartoon shorts known as “School House Rock.” The series taught history, grammar and math through songs. The play, “School House Rock Live Jr.” comes to life July 16-25 at South Baldwin Community Theatre with such songs as “Interjection,” “I’m Just a Bill” and “Conjunction Junction.” The music teaches a whole new generation of children how to “Do The Circulation.” Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday shows are at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students. Shown rehearsing “Nouns” at right are (first row, from left) Rylee Martin and Ali Livingston; (second row) Kyndall Thomas, Sydney Young, Ryan Williams, Andrew Williams and Katie Jones; and (third row) Baylee Alford, Amelia Bjuro, Blaine Irwin, Reide Irwin, Bonnie Moore and Megan Metz. SBCT is at 2022 W. Second St. in Gulf Shores, across the street from the Bodenhamer Recreation Center. For more information, call (251) 968-6721, or visit www.sbct.biz.
