SPANISH FORT, Ala. — Spanish Fort’s third annual “Spirit of Christmas” Parade begins at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Eastern Shore Centre.
Resident Melinda Phillips said she’s looking forward to attending her first parade since moving to the city two years ago.
“My little girl was only about three months old last year, so we didn’t go, but now I can’t wait to take her and her two little cousins,” Phillips said.
And in the true spirit of goodwill, the city waived the traditional entry fee.
“We are not asking for the entry fees this year and hope you will merrily find another use for the $25,” read an e-mail reminder to members of the community who had not yet filled out applications for inclusion in the parade line-up.
The parade route begins at Dillard’s.
