LOXLEY, Alabama — Just days after one escaped inmate from the Loxley Work Release Center was recaptured officials are looking for another inmate who escaped from the facility on Monday.

Lt. Hayward Riley of the Loxley Work Release Center reported that Demetrius Larkins, 38, who was serving a 25-year sentence on first degree robbery charges from Jefferson County, escaped from the facility at approximately 6:50 p.m. on Monday.

This was just days after 35-year-old Jeffrey Scott, who failed to report back to the Loxley facility following an assigned job on June 23, was recaptured on Friday at a campsite near County Road 141 in Coffee County.

According to a release from the Alabama Department of Corrections, a husband and wife found Scott inside their camper upon returning to the campsite. The couple had a firearm and were able to detain Scott until Coffee County Sheriff deputies arrived.

Scott was taken into custody and charged with third-degree burglary and theft of property. Scott faces additional charges for the escape.

Before his escape, Scott was serving a 35-year sentence on a 2002 drug trafficking conviction in Cullman County.

If you see Larkins or have information that may lead to his recapture, contact local law enforcement or the Alabama Department of Corrections at 1-800-831-8825.
