Remember the story of the Trojan Horse?

LightSquared (aka the latest Obama administration scandal) resembles a modern version of the Trojan Horse story, which was originally a mythical tale.

This updated version of the classic Trojan Horse strategy is far more real and insidious in its implications to the security of the United States and the safety of all Americans.

Rooted in modern technology, the LightSquared system and its prospective applications — seeded by politically connected moneyed interests, fertilized by political chicanery and irrigated by insider malfeasance — would plant across the 50 states Trojan LightSquared broadband, wireless transmitters, each with the capability to block or jam our U.S. national defense GPS signals.

Imagine if such a system was active on Sept. 11, 2001?

The implications include jamming the GPS spectrum on a nationwide scale, essentially rendering our own defensive U.S. smart weapons useless within our own borders.

The implications also include the ability to shut down all wireless communications by people and honest businesses on command.

Yes, the question: at whose command?

Conceiving such an application system might have been innocent.

Designing such an application system for military and national defense planning is prospectively appropriate.

Deploying such an application system for specific military and national defense purposes is viable only with the strictest and certain security safeguards.

You get the picture.

But, permitting such an application system for supposed commercial purposes is unacceptable.

Again, the concept behind the LightSquared system may have been innocently conceived within the scientific mind. The truth of that is: Only God knows — for sure.

And while God also knows for sure, the true motivations of the various players in the subsequent stages of development, permitting and attempted deployment, the very real facts are becoming increasingly evidentiary.

I salute both Gen. William Shelton, who oversees the Air Force Space Command, and Anthony Russo, National Director of the Coordination Office for Space-Based Positioning, Navigation, and Timing, for their individual courage and patriotic commitment to truth, the United States and the liberty of their fellow citizens.
