MOBILE, Ala. — Mobile Symphony will kick off its annual four-day chamber music workshop , Chamberfest, with a performance by the Archduke Trio (violinist Enen Yu, cellist Guo Sheng Huang and pianist Robert Holm, along with guest violist, Hsiaopei Lee).

The free concert will take place Thursday, May 28, at 7:30 p.m., in the Larkins Music Center, 257 Dauphin St. in downtown Mobile. Donations are welcome.

This professional chamber music group will perform the Hoffmeister String Trio, Schubert String Trio, and the Schumann Piano Quartet.

Chamberfest students will work on trios and quartets during the workshop, coached by the professional musicians who will perform for them in this special concert.

“What a fantastic way to kick off Chamberfest and to inspire the students to work hard,” said Sarah Wright, Mobile Symphony education director.

Chamberfest Director Guo Sheng Huang says there is no better way for young musicians to learn to listen to each other and build their technical expertise than in the art of chamber music playing.

“They go from playing music to making music in just a few days. And they begin to look forward to practicing because it is fun to perform with their friends.”
