James Ard, 59, a native of Fred, Texas and a resident of Silverhill, died on Saturday Aug. 1, 2009.
Born to J.C. and Ruby Ard on Oct. 16, 1950, was a 1969 graduate and football star of Warren High School, Warren, Texas.
He moved to Baldwin County 19 years, ago and retired from the shipyard business after 38 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, J.C. Ard.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Jeannett Elaine Ard of Silverhill; three children, Crystal Michelle (Jimmy) Godwin of Robertsdale, James Shannon (Lisa) Ard of Amerillo, Texas, and Chad Avery (Christy) Ard of Lumberton, Texas; six grandchildren, Brittney and Aspyn Godwin, Trevor and Tristen Ard, Courtney and Chloe Ard; his mother, Ruby Ard (Fred) Nolan of Fred, Texas; three sisters, Patricia (Roy Burton) Moore of Fred, Texas, Cora Janice (Ricky) Wood of Lumberton, Texas, and Shelia Darlene (Murray) Lane of Beaumont, Texas; nieces and nephews, Roy Burton Jr., Arnie Hatton, Latricia Cunningham, Ricky Wood Jr., Amy Lee Marino, Ashley Mechelle-Marberry, all of Texas.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3 at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4 from the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Silverhill Cemetery.
