FOLEY — A Foley man has been arrested on felony homicide charges.

The arrest comes after Foley Police investigated a two-vehicle collision earlier this week that left a 9-year-old girl dead and several others being treated for injuries.

As previously reported, Foley Police responded to a wreck Sunday morning  at the intersection of County Road 65 and Airport Road in Foley. Upon arrival, they found that a Ford Explorer driven by 24-year-old Patrick Quashawn Williams and a Dodge Charger driven by Tameca Brown had collided head-on.

Despite being Life Flighted to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Fla., the 9-year-old, a passenger in one of the vehicles, died from her injuries. In addition, Williams was treated and released from South Baldwin Regional Medical Center, as were Brown and a 4-year-old female passenger in Brown’s Charger.

An investigation of the incident led Foley Police to arrest Williams late Thursday afternoon and charge him with criminally negligent homicide, which is a felony.

“With the 9-year-old girl dying and him (Williams) failing to yield the right of way, he can be charged,” Foley Police Lt. Shawn Miller said in a phone interview.

At press time, Williams had been transported to the Baldwin County Corrections Center in Bay Minette, where he remains in custody on $100,000 bond.

This is not Williams’ first brush with the law. According to Baldwin County Sheriff’s records, he has been arrested several times since 2006 on such charges as ulawful possession of a controlled substance, theft and domestic violence.

This is also not the only felony arrest associated with vehicular activity in South Baldwin this week. According to Elberta Police Chief Stan DeVane, 19-year-old Ryan Anthony Williams was arrested at 9:20 p.m. Thursday for illegal possession of prescription drugs (Zanax), which is a felony.

“It was the result of a traffic stop on the intersection of (U.S. Highway) 98 and Sandy Creek,” DeVane said in a phone interview, “because the guy was driving to the left of the center line.”

At press time, Williams had been taken to Foley Jail and was set to be transported to Baldwin County Corrections Center in Bay Minette.
