ORANGE BEACH, Ala. — This summer the Coastal Arts Center of Orange Beach will feature two “Quick and Easy” art classes by popular local artists and teachers, Jane Sellier and Tommy Vogel, whose work hangs in the arts center’s gallery.
Each two- or three-hour class will be on Wednesdays in June and July. All supplies are included participants need only bring a positive attitude and they will go home with a finished piece of art. These classes offer an opportunity to experience a medium for the first time or to brush up on forgotten techniques.
Visitors to the Gulf could spend a day at the arts center with the “make your own glass” experience in The Hot Shop (10-20 minutes) and the quick and easy watercolor or pastel classes.
CLASSES
Quick and Easy Watercolor will be taught by Jane Sellier from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $55 which includes supplies
These sessions are for beginning adult art students. Those with previous experience are welcome as well.
The instructor will give step-by-step full color demonstrations so you end up with finished art you can take home. The sessions are lively and energetic so come prepared to have a good time!
Quick and Easy Pastels will be taught by Tommy Vogel from 2- 4 p.m. and the $28 fee includes supplies. Vogel, will introduce you to drawing with pastels. This pastel class will focus on technique, color application and composition. Students will complete a work in the two-hour lesson.
ONE-DAY CLASS
In addition to the ongoing Quick and Easy Wednesdays, Barbara Curtis will teach a one-day workshop on ink resist watercolor. Barbara moved to Gulf Shores from Orange County, Ca. and has been an active member artist at the Coastal Arts Center of Orange Beach.
Learn how to use tempura paint and India ink as resists with watercolors. This is a new class and should be lots of fun. This class will be taught Monday, June 4, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and the $50 cost includes supplies.
