FOLEY, Ala. — Art enthusiasts headed to the Foley Center for Performing Arts Thursday evening for a reception honoring the annual Lighthouse Art Competition.

“We started this six years ago,” said Lighthouse Director Joanne Sheils. “ It’s a good means of promoting awareness of domestic violence in the community.”

While perusing the 48 entries, visitors voted for their favorite to win the People’s Choice Award. In addition, Lighthouse staff selected the winner of the Hope Award and University of South Alabama Department of Visual Arts Department Chair Jason Guynes selected first, second and third-place winners.

Winners were not announced at press time.
