On behalf of Art Partners on the Bay, we would like to thank the many people making the 2008 art event a success. Art Partners is an outreach of VSA arts of Alabama and showcases collaborative works of art created by Bay area community artists and people with chronic illness and disabilities.
This year’s event was held June 26, at the Eastern Shore Art Center and sold a record number of art creations including paintings, fused glass, pottery, jewelry, photography and mixed media pieces. This amazing evening was made possible by the generous support of community sponsors including Red or White Wine/MBC United Distributors, Panini Pete’s Café & Bakeshoppe, Winn Dixie, Carl E. Clark, AIFD/Southern Veranda and Jeanine Normand “Dr. Jazz.”
Special thanks go to our visionary easel sponsors. Total Expression sponsors were Hazel Harrison Buck and Angus R. Cooper II. Creative Commotion and New Perspective sponsors included Knodel Associate Architects AIA; Ben M.Radcliff Contractor Inc.; Baldwin County Pulmonary & Sleep Physicians P.C.; 4 Bags; Hertha’s Second Edition; Jim & Pam Prestwood; Lindsey K. Pittman; and Debbie and Michael Quinn.
This memorable evening included both a silent and live auction. Success can be measured in the smiles and shouts of joy as these special artists stepped into the world of those who can proudly say “My works have sold!” Special thanks to the Eastern Shore Art Center for hosting the event. Independent Living Center (Brandy Hartley) and MARC (Sharron Beasley) and ESAC hosted art workshops toward this event. Thank you to the teachers in various schools in Mobile and Baldwin counties who participated. The proceeds from Art Partners on the Bay will be used to continue ongoing workshops for those with chronic illnesses or disabilities.
Thanks also to committee participants Juli Day, Carolyn Greene, Susan Wright and Robin Fitzhugh. To the many professional artists who donated their time to “partner” thanks for sharing in the joy of creation!
