BAY MINETTE — Mayor Jamie Tillery issued a proclamation declaring the week of April 30 through May 5 as Art Week in Bay Minette.

The emphasis week will to culminate with the “...and All That Jazz” art event presented by the Best Friends Gallery and the Old Town Bay Minette Arts Council on Friday, May 4, 5 to 9 p.m., at Rex Courtyard and Best Friends Gallery, located at 154 N. Hoyle Ave.

The evening will feature work from artists throughout the Southeast, spoken word poetry, storytelling and live jazz performed by Chip Herrington’s big band.

Southern Living Creative Director Bob Perino will be attending as a judge for the art show. Also serving as judges will be Sonja Griffin Evans, owner of Gumbo Gallery in Pensacola, and popular area artist Bill Harrison of the Garage Studio in Point Clear.

The newly created Old Town Bay Minette Arts Council chose the butterfly as the symbol to represent the group and its endeavors. The butterfly is a symbol of “welcome” and “change,” symbolizing what the arts council is working to bring to the art community in Bay Minette.
