Arthur Aubrey Little Sr., 83, a well-known and respected law enforcement professional, passed away at his home in Robertsdale on Friday, Oct. 31, 2014.

He was born Sept. 23, 1931 to Samuel and Mittie Little, and grew up in Bay Minette, the youngest of seven children.

Aubrey attended Baldwin County High School before enlisting in the U.S. Army where he served his country for three years. He later moved to Robertsdale, where he has lived the majority of his adult life.

Aubrey married Patricia Ann Abercrombie on April 11, 1963, and together they shared 51 blessed years before his passing.

Through the course of their many years together, Patricia supported Aubrey’s career in law enforcement while serving the public herself as a licensed professional nurse. Together they shared a rich life centered upon family relationships and professional service.

Aubrey’s prestigious career in law enforcement began in 1962 as a police officer with the Robertsdale Police Department. The following year he was admitted into the Alabama State Troopers, where he served the public faithfully for the next 16 years.

In 1979, Aubrey became an investigator with the Alabama Bureau of Investigation, where he remained until his retirement in 1986. In total, Aubrey’s career in public service spanned 24 years, during which time he received numerous awards and accommodations for excellence in law enforcement.

Aubrey leaves a living legacy of five children, Larry Little of Loxley, Gwin Little and wife Olivia of Elberta, Aubrey Little II and wife Teresa of Andalusia, Victor Little and wife Sandy of Peachtree City, Ga. and Robyn Powell of Wichita, Kansas. Aubrey is also survived by two sisters, Ruby McDonald of Bay Minette and Elizabeth Tolbert of Mobile; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Aubrey was predeceased by his parents (Samuel and Mittie Little); four siblings; and a grandson, Forest Little.

A visitation will be held at Mack Funeral Home in Robertsdale on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014, from 6 until 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 3, 2014, at 10 a.m., at Mack Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Larry Little Jr., Bo Lewis, Shannon Lewis, Ricky Lewis, Shawn Lewis and Brandon Little.

Honorary pallbearers are Carson Powell and Matthew Little.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice, 9805 Millwood Circle, Daphne, AL 36526.
