The Orange Beach Festival of Art attracted guests by the droves—rain held off and people seemed to enjoy the event every much.
The most popular portion of the events appeared to be the car exhibit. There were some amazing vehicles on display from the Orange Beach Sports Association 20th Annual Seafood Festival and Car Show.
Jo and Jerry Johnson greeted people at the front entrance and graciously answered any type of questions, especially the directions to the different events. Next there was a booth set up to collect money for pets, a cause for all of the pets out there who need homes, food and shelter. For $1, donors received a big candy bar.
Many types of booths lined the path and some contained very unique art forms, and artists.
Kay Bonnell and Wendy Edwards are local artists and also a mother and daughter team who make up Wendy Kay Designs. They explained that they begin with raw metals that they cut, hammer and torch into various shapes. Then a layer of enamel is placed on each piece and fired at 1,500 degrees. Special stones are added to some pieces.
Bowls by Bill was another interesting booth. Bill hand-makes every bowl and items out of wood. He tours to different places from his home in Sylacauga, Ala. for shows every weekend. He takes the time to explain the process he uses to make these bowls.
Eddie Boy was there giving out his famous homemade ice cream for a $1 donation. The cold treat is featured at Flipper restaurant at Bear Point Marina off on Canal Road in Orange Beach.
Orange Beach city employees provided a lovely, clean grounds area for the event. It was an afternoon of fun for everyone who came out to support the cause.
