BAY MINETTE, ALA. — A Mobile woman has been indicted on second-degree assault and possession of a controlled substance charges after allegedly presenting a forged prescription at CVS Pharmacy in Fairhope and injuring an arresting officer.
Mindi Jo Smith, 37, of Lubel Ave., was arrested April 23 after she allegedly presented a forged prescription for methadone, according to a deposition filed by Fairhope Police officer Lawanda Hewitt.
When Smith returned to pick up the prescription, she allegedly used her feet, knees and hands to kick Hewitt in the stomach and injure the officer’s left hand, according to court documents.
Smith was released April 25 on bail set at $6,000. The true bill was filed Sept. 24.
In a separate indictment, Shannon Mikiel Barnes, 25, of Yelding Lane in Montrose, was indicted on charges of trafficking marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and carrying a concealed weapon.
According to a deposition filed July 29 by Fairhope Police officer John Morgan, authorities discovered 2.2 pounds of marijuana, 200 ecstacy pills, electric scales and grinder and a pistol in Barnes’ possession.
Bail was fixed at $34,500 by the grand jury Sept. 24.
