At the Gulf Shores Library

GULF SHORES, Ala. — Many students at Gulf Shores Elementary School spent their summer reading. They participated in the Summer Reading Program sponsored by librarian Michele Bennett at the Thomas B. Norton Public Library in Gulf Shores. Each grade level was assigned a certain number of pages to read, from the books of their choice, during the summer in order to qualify for the Summer Reading party coming up soon. The students will participate in a Candy/Money Scramble to reward them for their hard work. In the top left photo, from left, are second-graders Megan Bradford, Fisher Bryant, Colton Dyken and Mary Mac Powell with their reading logs along with Mrs. Bennett, GSES Librarian.

In the photo at right, Hailey and Hannah Martin are all smiles after getting their first library cards.

An unexpected gift of beautiful flowers brightened the day for the staff at library in Gulf Shores recently. The grandchildren of Trudy Searcy, a Gulf Shores resident, came in wearing big smiles and carrying bouquets of yellow and white flowers as a thank you gift. The children had enjoyed movies and books from the library during their summer visit to Gulf Shores. In the top right photo, from left are Elijah Jones, 9,
