GULF SHORES, Ala. -- Police officers were dispatched to Hancock Bank at 1801 Gulf Shores Parkway this morning at 8:48 a.m. after GSPD Communications received a call that shots had been fired at the bank and a suspect was running from the scene.
On Friday the suspect was identified as Justin Emon Waller, 25, who was listed in Baldwin County Jail records as having a Fort Morgan Road address in Gulf Shores.
Officers arrived moments later and determined that a black male adult armed with a handgun attempted to rob the bank as employees were opening the doors for the business day.
The suspect fired his gun after a struggle with bank employees but no one was injured. He then ran away from the scene. Police quickly established a perimeter to contain the suspect. He was located nearby and taken into custody without incident at 9:02 a.m.
GSPD Detectives and the FBI are on scene. This investigation is ongoing.
