Aubry Mullings, on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, beloved best friend and companion Aubrey “the Bear” Mullings was welcomed home to receive his new body. He is now riding his bike on the streets of gold and organizing his “hoot” singing group in heaven.
Aubrey is reunited with his mother, Dorothea Mullings; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Miller; his sister, Georgia Humphreys; his brother-in-law, John Humphreys; his sister-in-law, Irene Miller; his brother-in-law, James Miller; and several other friends made during his journey. Born May 6, 1947 in Washington, D.C., and growing up in Michigan, Aubrey leaves Mary, his wife and ever loving girlfriend of 44 years; his special “daughter” Terri; his father, Ernest Mullings; step-mother, Mary Rose; sisters: Chris (Bob); Jeanette (Rick); step-sisters: Debbie (Carl); Cindi (Larry); Rose (Don); Laura; Tammy; brother-in-laws: Martin (Hazel); Kenny; Jack (Pat); plus many loved nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and a wealth of close personal friends who all feel grateful for their time with him. Aubrey had developed a beautiful Christian spirit and proudly wore his bright pink t-shirt, emblazoned with “My Church Is @ The Flora-Bama Worship @ The Water” as he enjoyed the unique fellowship and spiritual support of “Big Dave” and “easy on the eyes” Pastor Jeremy as he navigated his journey through his battle with stage 4 lung cancer. There are many wonderful words that can be expressed to describe Aubrey, however they cannot fully capture the essence of a man so full of life, humour, and spirit. His life will be celebrated on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at 12:15 p.m. in the main room of one of his favourite places, The Flora-Bama. A lunch will be served at the Harriet Cockrell Center on Ono Island to continue the celebration. In lieu of flowers, it was Aubrey’s wish that a memorial fund be made to create a scholarship for students of photography, which was one of his many talents and passions. Please make donations to “The Aubrey Mullings Scholarship Fund". A box for cards /donations will be available at the Service/Reception, or you can mail a donation to the following address: c/o Mary Mullings, 4780 Osprey Drive, Orange Beach, AL 36561.
