Avanell Carrie (Edgemon) Haley, 90, a longtime resident of Daphne, died on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011 at Mercy Medical. She was born in 1921 in Sallisaw, Okla. to Albert Marion Edgemon and Etta Audrey (Harris) Edgemon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Laurence Haley; father Albert Marion Edgemon; mother, Etta Audrey (Harris) Edgemon; stepmother, Vicie Viola (Marrs) Edgemon; son, Anthony Emanuel Haley; sisters, Anna Mae Edgemon, Betty Lou Edgemon, Audrey Etta (Edgemon) Dotson, Opal (Edgemon) Moore and Ollie Van “Sis” (Edgemon) McConnell; and brother, Boyd Edgemon.
She is survived by her brothers, Floyd Edgemon of Fernley, Nev., John George “J.G.” Edgemon of Freemont, Calif. and Albert Edgemon Jr. of Freemont, Calif.; sister, Modene (Edgemon) Pryor of Roseville, Calif.; grandson, Christopher Kevin Haley and wife, Kimberly, of Lawrenceville, Ga. and their children, Griffin, Kendall and Sydney; and a deeply caring extended family of nieces, nephews and friends.
She was buried at Daphne Baptist Cemetery on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011.
A memorial service will be held at Eastern Shore Baptist Church, Daphne, on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011 at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Eastern Shore Baptist Church.
