PERDIDO BAY -- From the Mayors Office: The Auburn University Small Town Design Initiative was on site Feb. 2-4 to kick off development of a Master Plan for the town. Approximately 75 people attended the Town Hall Meeting on the Feb. 2 and over 100 on the Feb 4. Professor Morgan asked the attendees to share (1) What images of Perdido Beach would you put on a post card? (2) What do you consider to be the "gateways" of the Town and when/how do you know you're approaching "home"? (3) What are the greatest assets of the Town? (4) What makes Perdido Beach uniquely Perdido Beach? Almost all the answers had to do with "the natural environment" especially those things having to do with the "waterways". Also high on the list were "tranquility" and "sense of community". Auburn University will return mid-March for another town hall meeting.

Municipal Election: The municipal elections will be Aug. 28. Information concerning candidacy is on the town website www.townofperdidobeach.org

Perdido Beach Volunteer Fire Department: Our department has certified CPR and First Aid Instructors. If you need a class, contact one of the following: American Heart Association or George McPherson: 961-7657.

Road Sign: There was a round of applause when the ‘No Dumping' sign was placed on the corner of Selma and Escambia Avenue.

Accident: One of our residents had a run-in with a large young buck from the neighborhood. Although the car was extensively damaged, luckily our resident walked away without a scratch. The insurance adjuster stated that there has been an unseasonably large amount of deer-vehicle accidents reported in January and February. Bottom line, drive the speed limit and keep your eyes peeled.

Leash Law: There is not a leash law in Baldwin County, however; there is a containment law. This means that your dog must be contained on your property. If you have an issue with an animal, please contact Animal Control at (251) 972-6834 or the Sheriff's Office (251) 937-0202.

Church: The Perdido Beach Baptist Church (County Road 97) will be participating in the Baptist Association "On Mission Celebration" and will

host visiting missionaries Sunday Morning, Feb. 26th followed by a Covered Dish Lunch in the Fellowship Hall. Guests and Visitors are welcome.

Contact: If you're a resident of Perdido Beach and would like your event, meeting, or birth announced, write me at perdidobeach@gulftel.com, or drop your ‘breaking news' in the Town Hall drop-box.
