BAY MINETTE, Ala. – Baldwin County District Judge Michelle Thomason on Monday set bail at $300,000 for a woman accused of scamming a Foley woman by posing as an oil spills claims mediator, according to the Baldwin County District Attorney’s Office.
Bail stipulations also require Rhonda J. Frazier to wear an electronic ankle monitor, have no contact with the victims, and refrain from handling finacial matters for others than herself.
Frazier, who is from Ohio, has used multiple aliases and is thought to have victimized others on the Gulf Coast, according to District Attorney Hallie Dixon.
“We anticipate more charges against Frazier in the future,” Dixon said. “She has an extensive criminal history in multiple states.”
Dixon put others who would scam oil-spill victims on notice.
“This disaster has caused financial ruin and heartache for many Baldwin County citizens, and our office considers people who would prey on them to be the lowest of the low,” Dixon said. “We will not tolerate it.”
