ROBERTSDALE, Ala. — According to a report received by the Baldwin County Health Department from the city of Fairhope Utilities, a sewer overflow on Thursday, April 2, at 6:55 p.m., occurred due to a power outage, or lift station control malfunction.
The overflow was at the Fels lift station on 198 South Mobile St. and lasted less than 30 minutes, with an undetermined amount estimated at less 1,000 gallons possibly being discharged into Mobile Bay.
The health department urges residents to exercise caution if using this water body for recreational purposes. Also, thoroughly cook any fish or seafood caught near by and wash hands after handling fish or seafood.
