DAPHNE, Ala. — The Baldwin County Public Schools Athletic Department honored two Bayside faculty by naming Dan Gonzales as Division 1A Coach of the Year and inducting Charlie Miller into the Baldwin County Middle School Athletic Association Class of 2008 Hall of Fame.

Gonzales coaches the eighth-grade boys basketball team and led them to victory at the 1A Area Baldwin County Tournament this year.

“I couldn’t have received this honor without the hard work and sacrifice from my players or the tremendous support from Tom Johnson, Bayside’s division heads and athletic director and the other basketball coaches,” Gonzales said. “This group of boys is truly blessed, and I’m so lucky to have been able to work with them this year.”

Miller, who has coached at Bayside for many years and is the middle-school division head, was inducted into the Hall of Fame based on his work in athletics, as well as his performance as an administrator.

“To be recognized by the Baldwin County Middle School Athletic Association means a lot to me,” Miller said. “I take great pride in working with all aspects of middle school student life.”
