Ms. Senior Baldwin County Contestants must be Baldwin county residents, age 60 or over, be willing to participate in our pageant. Judging will consist of: interview, poise in an evening gown, philosophy of life, and performing talent. Prior pageant experience is not necessary.

The deadline for submitting completed application packages is September 15, 2010.

Community Cleanup Day, hosted by the city of Fairhope, will be held Saturday, Sept. 18, 9 a.m. to noon, in conjunction with the Alabama Coastal Cleanup.

Civic groups, churches, boy/girl scout troops, homeowner associations and/or individuals are invited to call and sign-up to participate.

Thomas Hospital 50th Anniversary Homecoming will be held Sunday, Sept. 19, 2-5 p.m. at the hospital on Greeno Road in Fairhope.

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) will hold a grassroots meeting, hosted by The Haven and the Baldwin County Humane Society (BARC!), to connect with area animal advocates on the topic of animal protection, possible legislation and public policy. This meeting will be held Sept. 23, 6-8 p.m., at the Fairhope Civic Center.

Baldwin County Training School Heritage Fest 91 Foundation presents "PURPLE & GOLD CABARET," Saturday, September 25, 2010 at Bayfront Park, Daphne, 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tickets $20/person. Dress is “Sunday Best.” Dancing and free buffet. The Baldwin County Historical Society meeting will be Sunday, September 26 at 2:30 p.m. at the Daphne Senior Center at 2605 Highway 98 in Daphne.

The program will be on the modern legacy of the British Colonial Period on the Middle Gulf  Coast.

 This will be an overview of the historic cultural, religious and ethnic influences on our modern culture and a broad and general description of the European occupations that most influenced our society as it exists today. The program will concentrate on the effects of British Colonial Rule in British West Florida from 1763 to 1782.

 Frank Laraway will present the program. Light refreshments will be provided. Admission is free and the public is welcome.

17th Annual Weeks Bay Native Plant Sale will be held Oct. 8-10, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, at Safe Harbor at Weeks Bay, across U.S. Highway 98 from the Weeks Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve. Home Decoration Workshop A four session Home Decorating Workshop will be held at Fairhope Christian Church starting Monday. The public is invited. The cost is $15 for four sessions.Carole Hagerman will show how to arrange furniture and accessories to make rooms look larger and more inviting.  You will learn how to  decorate your home using what you already have to better reflect your

City Rhythm Big Band will host a free season opening dance and concert Friday, Nov. 19 at the Loxley Civic Center.

Quilt Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Friday and  Saturday, Feb. 3-5 at Robertsdale United Methodist Church, Highway  59, Robertsdale. More than 300 quilts will be creatively displayed with  antiques and collectibles.  There will be old quilts, new quilts, simple quilts, and elaborate quilts.  Some quilts will have been made  by beginners and other quilts by experienced quilters. A soup, salad  and dessert lunch will be available 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Vendors with quilting supplies will be on hand. Bring your scissors, as there will be scissors sharpening available. Costs are $5 for the quilt show and $7 for lunch. Proceeds will go to mission  projects local, national and international. Quilting Queens of Central Baldwin meet at 6:30 p.m. the second  Tuesday of every month at the George Pervy Thames Senior Citizen Building, 22651 E. The Pickin’ Friends a dulcimer group, meet every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Foley Senior Center on Rose Avenue.  The group  invites beginners and experienced players of appropriate acoustic  folk instruments, such as dulcimers, guitars, mandolins and so forth,

The South Baldwin Amateur Radio Club invites everyone interested in

Fun in the Son cruise-in, originally held the last Friday of every 

month, has moved to the last Saturday of every month in the parking 

lot of Sonic Drive-In on Highway 59 in Robertsdale beginning at 5 p.m. There will be music and door prizes. No alcoholic beverages.  Cruisers receive free cokes from Sonic. This is a ministry of Faith  Fellowship Church.
