BAY MINETTE, Alabama — The Baldwin County Commission last week approved a “pass through” funding from the Department of Homeland Security to provide $165,167 for the city of Gulf Shores to purchase a patrol boat, trailer, dive equipment, two personal watercraft and a trailer.
Newly appointed Baldwin County Emergency Management Director Mitchell Sims told Commissioners the equipment will prevent delays from the Coast Guard or other agencies to respond to emergencies related to water assistance.
The Gulf Shores Police Department will utilize the equipment and provide maintenance, according to the agreement.
